Online Homeschool Spelling Curriculum

$

That “perfect homeschool spelling curriculum” may just not be the solution for your child.  Programs are tools, not solutions to learning challenges. Curriculum content and structure should always be your servant and your guide, not your taskmaster. That’s how we see curriculum and courses…meeting the child where he is. The child’s needs guide us.

Wings to Soar Online Academy is different. We design curriculum for each student, based on their needs, skill gaps, and strengths. What sets us apart from the rest is we:

  • Investigate your child’s learning gaps
  • Compile a picture of your child’s strengths and challenges
  • Create a plan to fill those gaps
  • Deliver high-interest content through quality online programs
  • Partnering with homeschool families in a hybrid of online school and homeschooling where you enroll in just the homeschool reading curriculum and other areas that are right for your situation.
  • Strategically move your child forward through specialized instruction, intervention, individual attention, and accountability.

Programs included in the Online Homeschool Spelling Curriculum:

  • Nessy provides fun practice to reinforce phonics skills in two strands: reading and spelling. Nessy was created as an Orton-Gillingham based dyslexia program. This can be a fun program for fun, practice of the phonics skills. I recommend using this program 15-20 minutes daily. It could serve as a solid homeschool spelling curriculum, particularly if you add the Daily Basic 5 Multisensory Practice.
  • Our Wings to Soar Spelling Foundations includes 3 parts: the practice activities in Spelling City (I recommend doing 2 of the assigned activities each day), the Daily Basic 5 Multisensory Practice (use with words that are particularly challenging for the student; the goal is more repetitions of the word spelled correctly having fun doing it), and the Commonly Confused Words practice pages (occasionally referred to in the spelling lessons; otherwise use when the student is trying to use a word, but confusing it with the other). Our intervention specialist created this homeschool spelling curriculum based on her Orton-Gillingham dyslexia program training.
